Alexander Jerman, dr. med.

Alexander Jerman, dr. med., se je po opravljenem specialističnem izpitu iz nefrologije, ki ga je  opravil z odliko (cum laude), leta 2019 posvetil kliničnemu delu v Nefrološki ambulanti in Centru za akutno in komplicirano dializo Kliničnega oddelka za nefrologijo UKC Ljubljana. Poleg spremljanja in zdravljenja bolnikov z akutno ledvično okvaro, rednega dela v ambulanti za ultrazvočno diagnostiko in ledvične biopsije svojo klinično pozornost še posebej usmerja v    ambulantno diagnostiko in zdravljenje ponavljajočih ledvičnih kamnov.

V okviru doktorskega študija pod mentorstvom doc. dr. Vanje Peršič, dr. med., doktorand Jerman preučuje dejavnike, ki pri bolnikih s končno ledvično okvaro povzročajo hitrejše staranje in večjo obolevnost. Eden teh dejavnikov je okužba s citomegalovirusom, ki poteka pretežno brez bolezenskih simptomov.

Sicer pa se specialist nefrolog skupaj s sodelavci raziskovalno posveča napredku pri razumevanju in izboljšanju postopkov zunajtelesnega odstranjevanja toksinov in citokinov pri akutni ledvični okvari kritično bolnih v Enotah Intenzivne Terapije (EIT) UKC Ljubljana. Raziskovalna spoznanja je Alexander Jerman s soavtorji doslej objavil v več znanstvenih publikacijah, med drugim leta 2023 tudi v Scientific Reports, ki velja za 5. najpogosteje citirano znanstveno revijo.
